Key Dates

Municipal elections for Mayor, councillors, and school trustees are held every four years. The next municipal election will be held on October 20, 2018.


  • September 14, 2018, - Nomination period closes at 4:00 pm (late submissions CANNOT be accepted).
  • September 18, 2018, - Deadline to challenge for nominations and elector organisations endorsements at 4:00 pm.
  • September 21, 2018, - Deadlines for:
    • Decision on challenge of candidate nomination.
    • Withdrawal of candidate.
    • Withdrawal of candidate endorsement by elector organisation.
  • September 22, 2018, to October 20, 2018 - Campaign period.
  • October 20, 2018 - General Voting Day from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
  • October 24, 2018 - Deadline for campaign signage to be removed
  • November 5, 2018 - Inaugural Council Meeting (Oath of Office).
  • January 18, 2019 - Deadline for submission of Campaign Financing Disclosure Statement. Must be submitted directly to Elections BC.
  • February 18, 2019 - Late Campaign Financing Disclosure Statement subject to a $500 late filing fee. Must be submitted directly to Elections BC.
